Jack Carter

Dr. Carter earned a B.A. and an M.A. in sociology at the University of Texas at Arlington, and an M.S. in demography and a Ph.D. in sociology at the Florida State University. He has been a faculty member at the University of New Orleans since 1986. His research interests are social gerontology and social demography. Recent publications include articles examining elderly impoverishment, criminals that target the elderly, elder abuse, and immigration and racial and ethnic relations. Dr. Carter teaches upper level courses in Population Problems and the Sociology of Aging, and still enjoys teaching the 1000 level introductory course.
