Rachel E. Luft 's primary areas of research specialization are Race, Gender, Social Movements, and Hurricane Katrina. She has published articles and book chapters on the social movement response to Hurricane Katrina, intersectionality, and human rights. Luft draws on intersectionality theory, critical race theory, critical whiteness studies, and feminist theory in her teaching and research. She is currently writing a book called Disaster Patriarchy: An Intersectional Analysis of Post-Katrina Social Movements. Before coming to UNO, Dr. Luft taught in Sociology and/or Women's Studies Departments at UC Santa Barbara, San Francisco State University, and Montana State University, Bozeman.
